Friday Florals

Friday Florals

Happy Friday from the sunny, gorgeous, Gold Coast.

It’s summer in May!

Who would have ever guessed it?

We are kicking off all of our wonderful weekend events with walk throughs, setups and wedding rehearsals downtown.

If you’ve ever had the sheer pleasure of walking down turn of the century Astor Place in our fair town, you’ve seen what is surely one of Chicago’s favorite city strolls through time, architecture and glorious gardens.

Bon Week End!

Sneak Peony Peek

Sneak Peony Peek

This table is so pretty…I can hardly stand it.

I have to scoot out to event number two – and I can’t stand to leave these pretty pink confections.

Happy, happy are we.

Dip Dye

Dip Dye

What fun we had dip dying canning jars into mixed metals last night…

And just look – how gorgeous the result.

This is a fast and super wasy DIY to add a splash of metallic hues to your tabletop.

We used bronze, gold, silver, sparkling glitter paints, and more.

Dip jar into paint, shake off excess, dry.

Or in our case, force flash dry in sunshine on sidewalk with power fan blowing on it to speed up the process…

Fill with florals, pillar candles, votive candles…

Arrange in collections on metallic trays down the table…

And voila – an instant party punch of style.

We love a good dip dye.

DIY Runner

DIY Runner

Don’t you just la la love this handpainted runner?

I sure do.

I fell head over heels, madly in love the moment I saw it.

Right, smack dap in the wallpaper aisle at ny favorite hardware store.

Yep.

True DIY love.

So, tonight we unrolled it right ontop our burlap cloths, down our twenty foot long European banquet tables.

And it looks fabulous.

11.99 for thirty fabulous feet.

A tabletop, and wallpaper.

The perfect pair!

Ahhhhh!

Speakeasy Style

I had the BEST Mother’s Day.

And I hope you did too.

Here is how I spent my day.

Chicago Speakeasy style…inside one of the city’s most breathtaking spaces, The Museum of Contemporary Art.

We partied it up Prohibition chic style.

Complete with fedoras, pinstripe suits and secret passwords at the door for entry.

Vintage trolleys transported our favorite RCI Rogers guests from the ITW, International Telecoms Week conference across the Chicago River from their front door to, to our party front door.

Chicago sweet treats and namesakes were found inside…from a five flavored Garrett’s Popcorn Bar complete with custom branded tins for take away…

To Speakeasy themed Cocktail Cakes set in an artful display to compliment the colorful, bold, modern galleries.

Guests were seeing RED – from glowing bars, brilliantly illuminated high boys and coffee tables, silk pillows on tufted lounges, ostrich plumes, to a turn of century twenty four foot long dining table.

And perhaps my all time favorite party detail – the bootleg bottles of Speakeasy Spice.

Served by Wolfgang Puck Catering on silver trays, but of course.

Inside brown bottles wrapped in paper bags we mixed up Whiskey, Ginger and fresh mint.

Let me tell you – they were a HIT.

But the BIG attraction?

The legend herself – Shirley King – BB King’s daughter.

She rocked that house like no other.

Grabbed those guests right out off the floor, brought them up to sing, a la doo wop Temptations Motown style.

It was too cool for school.

A-mazing.

Don’t throw a party without her, or Steve Biossat or Chicago Live Music.

As we always say at A Perfect Event, no extra charge for the perfect weather.

The grand terrace overlooking the MCA’s gorgeous, lakeside sculpture garden was the perfect perch to enjoy our Speakeasy stations:  from Antipastis, to Steakhouse: carved Chicago Steak with Frites and mini creamed spinach tarts, to Vesuvio Chicken and the most beautiful old school salads you have ever seen.

Thank you to my dear friend and uber talented photographer Jason Geil for shooting all our party pics yesterday, and spending the day with Rogers at their conference.

MANY more decadent party details and inspiring images to come.

This is just to wet your whisky-d whistle…

Speakeasy Soiree

Speakeasy Soiree

This week is International Telecom Week, right here in Sweet Home Chicago.

So we are stepping back into another era, into a legendary chapter in Windy City history, and throwing an old school Prohibition Party at the MCA.

We are dressing tables with ostrich plumes arranged in bootleg bottles…

Serving minted Ginger Whiskeys in brown paper bottles…

Seating guests at the twenty four foot long table covered in plumes, brown bottles, flickering red votives, and silver leaf lanterns.

We have arrived!

Chicago Speakeasy Soiree is tonight at the incredible Museum of Contemporary Art.

Don’t you love a little parking garage inspiration?

It’s the little things in life.

Brings a sparkle to the eye.

A smile to a girl’s face.
