Hi, I’m Debi Lilly. We’re throwing a sports birthday party today. No birthday party is complete without games and activities, and really fun ways to keep the kids busy. Today, I’m going to test our model. We are going to keep the kids so busy that they won’t have any downtime.

We have all kinds of sports activities all over the party. Seven different games from baseball to golf, to football, to basketball, floor hockey, foosball, you name it. Whatever your theme is, it’s really important to put together fun interactive games that keep the kids busy. It can be board games or it can be video games.

Today, we’ve got the Wii going with all-star sports. Your theme can be very easy to think of fun things for the kids to do. It’s great to have extra hands and helpers to keep the kids busy, to answer questions, and to show them what to do. All of these are the secrets to having a really wonderful successful kid’s party, no matter what the theme.

Birthday Cakes For Kids

As seen on Debi Lilly TV:

I’m Debi Lilly. We’re throwing an all-star sports birthday today. One of the big focal points of any party, no matter what the theme, is the cake.

Today instead of just one birthday cake, we’ve set a whole sweets table which is a very big trend for kid’s parties, or any kind of party. It’s very easy to take items right from the bakery, or from your favorite grocery, but customize them and make them work with your theme easily.

We took a Styrofoam cone and with icing, right from the cake isle at the grocery, we iced on little mini white-powdered sugar donuts to create a big fun topiary or cone. We have a cute little sports rubber ducky right on top. That’s a great focal point on our table.

We have a couple of cakes here that we’ve customized, one in chocolate, one in vanilla. We’ve taken two different sizes of cakes, a large and a small. We’ve put them on top of each other, and then we added all kinds of fun kid sweets and treats like donuts, little mini donuts, whoppers, and m&ms.

These are new birthday cake Oreos which we sliced off, so you can see the colorful confetti icing, and stuck them right to the cake. This just took a few minutes. It really is going to be a very fun detail that the kids love.

We did the same to grocery, bakery cupcakes. We added little tiny Oreo cookie or little rolos. We put in fun little themed cupcake toppers, which are available to download right on our website. These toppers have jerseys with number one, but yet they say number 9, the age of the birthday boy. We added the birthday boy’s name to the back of all the jerseys.

All of these things you can print off right from our website for free. You can tape them to the top of a toothpick. You can top them on to your brownies, onto your cupcakes, and it instantly makes everything very thoughtful and very personal, and also really dresses up something that’s affordable, but you can do it quickly.

Kids Birthday Party Trends

Hi, I’m Debi Lilly. Today, we’re throwing an amazing kids party. Kids’ parties are so much fun. Just as much fun for the adults as they are to kids. The first tip to planning the perfect children’s party, whether it’s your first birthday party or not, is choosing a theme that your child loves. As they grow up, they’re wild about all sorts of different things.

Today’s theme, as you can see, is sports. You can take that theme. Be it their favorite book, be it something they love to watch, be it something they love to play, and pull it through all your details, your invitations, your décor, your food, your drink, and your activities.

Birthday parties for kids are all about setting a really fun colorful display and having lots of activities and entertainment. You want to keep them as busy as you possibly can, and of course making sure that everything ties together.

How To Hire A Kids Bithday Party Planner

As seen on Debi Lilly TV:

Hi, I’m Debi Lilly. We’re throwing a children’s birthday party today. When you are hiring a party planner, there are so many things to look for, ask for, and check before you hire them.

My first tip is to make sure that you look through the party planner’s portfolio. You make sure it’s very much in line with the kind of party that you’re looking to throw.

Second, you really want to be clear about their cost and your budget. You want to make sure that in their pricing, they include everything that you need. You also want to make sure they are helping plan and coordinate the party, helping you buy all of the supplies and for the party, and setting up the day of the party.

It’s also so important to check experience, how long has the party planner been in business. Check references, make sure you talk to a few clients, are aware of how they work with clients, and it’s just what you’re looking for. All of these questions will help make your next party even more successful. There is nothing better than the day of your party being able to relax and know that someone is taking care of all the details for you, making it even easier, even more beautiful than you’d be able to do by yourself.

Kate Spade Tea Party

As seen on Debi Lilly TV:

Hi, I’m Debi Lilly. This is the most beautiful table. This is our Kate Spade Tea Party. We are here tonight at Bloomingdales throwing all sorts of wedding and party trends. I love this table. It’s so cute. Everyone’s been going gaga who walks by.

First, we set the table with BBJ Linen’s checkered linen which is really bright and fun for spring and summer. Then we put in the center of the table the new Kate Spade tea set. We have teapots. We have little coffee pots, little cream and sugars. We stuck up tea cups, and we dropped into each little tea cup a little cupcake with fresh flowers to match from Alicia Cakes. In them, we tuck cute little colorful cards that you can just print right off of for your Kate Spade Tea party. They have cute sayings. They are really fun and girly. It’s a great way to personalize your table and dress it up a little bit.

Last, our menu cards pull in the checkers of the linen. Another great little detail that you can do yourself is to wrap a little twine around your menu. We added each place card or name so people know where to sit at the party, which is a great ice breaker and makes it easy for the guests. Then we have little tea truffles from Bake to the Bakery right here in Chicago, that we put in pretty little boxes again with a great tag.

This is such a happy fun party, and a really great way to set your table. A great theme for any kind of a wedding party, or a summer, spring party.

Sunday Brunch

As seen on Debi Lilly TV:

Hi, I’m Debi Lilly. We have set the loveliest table for any Sunday brunch you could ever imagine. This is a great Sunday brunch for a post wedding, or for any kind of a special occasion/party. What I love about it is that it’s a bright pop of citrus colors. We have a beautiful tangerine-colored burlap linen.

Colored linen is such a cool new trend from BBJ Linen. Down the table, we set big beautiful Moroccan lanterns that add instant drama and instant romance to your table. We have wonderful little bowls of Clementines. Again, making that produce beautiful right on your table with little budvases of flowers and bright citrusy colors, like lemon yellow and Clementine orange.

To make it really special, we have cakes as décor. This is such a great way to stretch your centerpiece. You can cut the cakes for dessert, but yet they look beautiful throughout dinner, throughout brunch, throughout the party. They’re a really wonderful way to make your table pop, but then turn it into a part of the meal that you serve as well.
