I just love Cosmos.

My mother always grew them in our garden – and they remind me of carefree childhood summertime play in the backyard.

Aren’t they so happy? Their bright petals and colorful centers brighten up any arrangement.

They have such a fun casual, colorful feel to them in centerpieces – looking as perfect in a vintage glass bottle as they do swaying in the breeze from the garden.

Dejuner a La Boulange on Fillmore.
La plat du jour – Salmon Rilette is too cute to pass up – the petite canning jar makes for such fun presentation.

Salmon filet (I love to grill salmon with some butter, dill, lemon and black pepper) is chilled, chopped and mixed with butter and fresh herbs.

Spread on the sea salt baguette it makes the perfect lunch.

I need dozens of these little jars for my next bridal shower…

Isn’t this delicious – simply on your screen?

And just as pretty as this shop appears, the staff are even lovelier. "Yes of course, take as many photos as you want".

Tour groups coming through were handed white glossy boxes full of macaron samples. One per guest!
I simply adore a brilliant shop, filled with beautiful products, in a stunning visual display, where the service matches the perfection.

Milette started years ago at The Berkeley Farmer’s Market, they have a pink tent! Love!

The draw inspiration for their European pastry from window shops in Vienna, the precise world of French baking and illustations in children’s books. Love!

Pastry case holds vintage cake stands displaying Tomboy Cake, Lemon Debutante, Bumblebee, and…drumroll please…Bergamont Cotton Candy.

Here is the taste test JUST from Frog Hollow’s gloriously gorgeous pastry cases.

And…truth be told…I ate the spicy jalepeno bacon herb scone before I took the shot. It was warm out of the oven…and I was waiting for a seat at the communal table.

Chicken apple empanada, sausage ratatouille empanada, sweet ricotta tart, and my new favorite scuffin.

Ok, so I lied. I was lured right out of bL by this picturesque farm stand scene across the way at Frog Hollow Farm.

Fresh Asian Pear juice anyone?

Scuffin perhaps? What’s a scuffin you ask, like me? It is a sweet and savory scone baked in a darling muffin tin, and filled inside with fresh apricot chutney.

Yep – too sweet to eat.

Ok, I hit paydirt at door number one.

I have heard so much hype about bL, Boulettes Larder and read so much about Chef Amaryll Schwetner’s organic Northern California farmers, foragers and sustainable artisans.

And you know what?

None of it prepared me for the beauty, the comfort, the grace, and the pure heaven of the cafe.

Eggs with ricotta salata, fresh shellbeans, squash blossoms and toasted almonds…

Seafood scramble with farm fresh tarragon…

Homemade yogurt with figs and berries in sweet fig sauce…

I may spend the entire day right here and be done.

The visual beauty and calm, peaceful cafe are on pointe with the incredible gastro delights.
