Live Wedding Lookbook - tomorrow night!

To quote the great Chicago icon we all adore…

Holy Cow.

Somehow, time has slipped by much too quickly as we’ve flown coast to coast
for the last few weeks.

First, Seattle sunshine and ships out to sea.

Second, climbing the hills of sweet San Francisco, and such fun shooting
spring trends for Debi Lilly Design/Safeway.

Third, New York Gift Show and gazillions of all things gorgeous.

Next up – gulp – tomorrow – is our Live Wedding Lookbook.

Party trends.

Fresh new florals as far as the eye can see.

Paper couture adorning every surface.

Did I mention Chevron votives? Fresh from Soho, NYC? Obsessed.

Color palettes.

BBJLinen’s brand new cloths and too cool for school charger plates from
front to back.

Cocktails – which personally I have been researching, collecting and taste
testing from west to east coast all month.

From our Boozy Hot Choc Bar with Pure Kitchen Catering and Baked the

To our Married Mules, a la many a night tasting inside RN74, Seattle…

to Pop-seccos, a nod to sticky sweet Valentine’s bliss.

Not to mention Baked’s Bakery Bar…

Frost Gelato’s divine aqua striped Gelato Cart…

The CB a Candy Bar…in all of it’s Valentine splendor.

And so much more.

Windy City Live: Touchdown! Superbowl Style

Windy City Live: Touchdown! Superbowl Style

Superbowl Sunday is here – just a few days away – and celebrity party
planner is here to share all of her stylist secrets with us.

In just a few steps – she’ll show us how to throw an easy, healthy,
superbowl touchdown.

Step 1 – Color!

The secret to stylish entertaining? Creating a personalized, custom events
– starting with your color palette.

Our inspiration for Superbowl? Look no further than team colors.

Color your table gorgeous with simple football jersey style linens – rented
from – around $20 each – delivered right to your door. How
easy is that?

Step 2 – Details!

Layer in the big trend for the season – vintage – with our old school
vintage NFL pennants – from team name, to “victory”, you simply set these
around your table for instant style. We designed these at my store, A
Perfect Event and have them free online at for you to click
and print yourself at home.

You can tuck them around the table, inside trophies or vases, glue them to
wooden skewers for guests – all fast and simple style you can do together
with the kids around the kitchen table.

Step 3 – Drinks!

Again, even the bar menu is all about custom, thoughtful details.

Represent both teams and their local flavors with cocktails that nod to
Baltimore and my favorite San Francisco.

First up – Baltimore Bloody Marys – a traditional recipe that everyone
loves, now with a twist of clam juice – all right from the grocery aisle.

Set an interactive mixology bar – guests love this, and it’s an instant ice
breaker, with glasses filled with celery, carrot sticks, olive skewers,
bacon strips, pickles and anything else you love in your drinks.

Step 4 – Pairing Menu!

The big trend in food, pairing sips and savories – like your bloody mary
with hearty, filling skewers you can tuck right into your cocktail glass.

Skewers of shrimp, cherry tomato, and chicken sausage are low fat, gluten
free, and easy to roast right in the oven, and place in a glass at room
temperature, for guests to help themselves during the party.

Crabcake sliders served on mini wheat rolls with a raw vegetable slaw of
carrots and cabbage is another favorite, fast dish. Heat frozen crabcakes
in the oven, mix together shredded carrots, brocolli wokly, shredded red
cabbage and a bottle of Garlic Expressions all natural viniagrette, and

Black Bean and Avocado Mango Salsa are full of vitamins and fiber – right
from the grocery and are simple to serve with whole grain flatbreads and

For San Francisco, the city that started the “slow food nation” we honor
local iconic flavors.

Ghiradelli Chocolate has never been more fun that with a Boozy Hot
Chocolate Bar – mixing good for you Ghiradelli dark chocolate mix, served
in a kettle from the stove, with toppings like cinnamon, lemon zest,
muddled berries, marshmallows and more.

Serve up SF sourdough melts with:

California farmstand vegetables, goat cheese, pesto…

Tomato, Bacon Jam (we sell at my store!), cheddar…

The current white hot restaurant in SF is Mission Chinese – you should SEE
the lines down the block – and inspired these chicken “pops” with roasted
grapes for fast, fresh, flavorful fingerfoods.

Twelve packs of Superbowl Cakes are the hottest dessert trend going –

Jalapeno Popper
Potato Skin (with bacon and chives)
Beer & Pretzel (Guinness and chocolate covered pretzel)

My heart in San Francisco

My heart in San Francisco

Tony Bennett said it best, in 1962.

I left my heart in San Francisco
High on a hill, it calls to me
To be where little cable cars climb halfway to the stars…

My love waits there in San Francisco
Above the blue and windy sea…

I could never, ever tire of this view.

And today, January 21, sixty plus degrees and sunny.
