The last SS12 inspiration comes from one of my very favorite boutiques
along la Seine in Paris, Dries Van Noten.
Dries is always adept at world culture mash-ups, making a stroll through
his Quai Malaquais fashion house (just off the oh so romantic to stroll
daily Rue de Seine) a total fantasy.
A third generation tailor, he has chosen this season to take us on an
interior journey, guided by his own unique taste and personal charisma,
both graphic and poetic.
Inspired by the pure, couture mindset of Balenciaga, he makes architectural
silhouettes from the 19th century, many wallpaper designs, the backdrop for
collages and photoprints.
Over the holidays I discovered a set of vintage china at the fabulous shop
Gather in Ivoryton, Connecticut, that perfectly pairs with this aesthetic.
