Seasons Eatings

I swear to tell the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me.

Confession:

We haven’t stopped eating since I arrived in Connecticut.

Now you know why I am totally and completely helplessly obsessed with food.

Here, the first course, Christmas Eve dinner.

Mom’s Corn Chowder with Grilled Scallops.

TO DIE.

And please note her darling french Quimper handpainted fish plates for the seafood course.  Swoon.

Followed by the second course, Dad’s Black Bean Soup with Sherry.

Honestly – I had two bowls.

It is beyond.  Seriously. insanely delicious.

The children’s precious notes to Santa.

Is it just me, or did they also seem to focus on food?

The “Santa please rate my behavior” Scorecards were new this year.

I am pretty sure there aren’t many other ten year olds leaving and labeling bottles of bubbly Prosecco for Santa…

She was quite insistent.

Mom and Dad whipped up yet another beauty of a meal this morning for Christmas Breakfast.

Dad is famous for Frittatas.  This one was bacon, potato,  parmesan…HEAVEN.

I had several slices.

Mom whipped out of the freezer a bottle of her handmade Vanilla Pom infused Vodka.

Which was CRAZY delicious with fresh orange juice.

We call it OJ.

What do you call it in your family?

In addition to her wrapping flair, Mom sets a gorgeous, elegant, thoughtful table for every possible celebration.

She handmade each of us decoupaged oranaments used this morning as velvet ribboned napkin rings.

Darling!

She has fresh flowers covering every tabletop…from pretty Hyacinth Bulbs forced in glass jar collections…

To Christmas Red Poinsettias…to Paperwhites…Amaryllis…

But, as it was a Lego Christmas morning, this was our colorful childhood centerpiece at the breakfast table.

I loved it.

Next Mom set a cheese course for snacking throughout the afternoon…

And then les deux gourrmands REALLy got started.

Mike’s absolute, nothing can touch it, favorite Christmas meal.

Crown Roast.

Everything in the kitchen was a work of beautiful art.

Mom and Lilly set a romantic, elegant table for dinner.

The potatoes roasted in Dad’s coveted copper collection…

His mustard sauce simmered on the stove…

Mom’s Roast Cauliflower was perfection.  She tossed it in olive oil, salt, pepper, pine nuts, garlic.

Chef and his mini me plating…

It was the perfect dinner party.

Followed of course, by dessert.

S’mores in the fireplace.  Our favorite.

And the most sinful Key Lime Pie.

But, I was much too busy making s’mores with the little ones, whilst easting the creamy, tart pie, to stop and take a photo.

What did you enjoy cooking, serving, or dining on this holiday?

Tasty Christmas dreams to you all.

Hey Debi. I found your site this morning while surfing around, and want to compliment you on your photography. Very beautiful. I used one of your pics in my blog this morning (roasting marshmallows). It’s a blog designed to strengthen families and called Family Strong – familystrong.blogspot.com.

I wanted to make sure it was okay with you that I used it. If you have any problems with it AT ALL just let me know and I will replace it right away.

    Thanks!
