My favorite tabletop trick pairs black "masks" cut from construction paper right ontop your family portrait frames on the piano, tables or walls.
Even spookier – photocopy pictures (even new color images easily become old, aged black and whites with the push of a copier button) and frame them without the glass or frame back. Then poke orange holiday lights (here we used easy to find colored light strands and only used two orange ones, leaving the back tightly wound behind the frame) through the "eyes" for instant an "Boo"!
