Disco Tea Dance

The invitation had me at Disco Tea Dance.

Not to mention the uber charming hosts Art Smith, Jesus Salgueiro, Stephen Hamilton and Cake Boy himself, up close, and in person.

Plus, it is ALWAYS a great party at Room 1520.

As we were pulling 1970s disco garb out of the backs of our closet Mike said “are you SURE everyone is dressing up for this?”

I assured him, Jesus PROMISED costumes.

Well…famous last words.

As you can clearly see above in the room shot, as we entered the party, in full head to toe disco gear, we were in the smallest of minorities.

We are chalking it up to an early start on Halloween.

Which do you think wore more glitter?

The seriously sublime sweets bar…

(wearing edible glitter that Eric, Cake Boy personally carried over from the UK)

or

my press on disco sparkly eyelashes?

Toss up I think.

This book is BEYOND beautiful.

You must pick yourself up a copy.

The sweets bar was SO superb.  So chic.

Massed white florals, white buttercream covering every possible baked bite.

And yes, of COURSE the brownies are gilded in edible gold.

Oh, Cake Boy, how can I ever possibly decide which of your rock star recipes I love most?

Let me count the ways from your two British TV series, pretty London patisserie and the new Cake Boy baking bible:

Marshmallow strings in raspberry, lavender, pistachio…

Your famous Eton Mess with Pop Rocks…

Favorite Toffee Applesauce Muffins from your London patisserie…

Double Chocolate Marshmallow Muffins served warm with ice cream…

Chai Tea Cupcakes…

Ricotta, Apple and Cinnamon Cheesecake…

and those, believe it or not, are ALL before you get to the Desserts chapter:

Salted Butter Caramel Mousee with Mini Pears…

Hot Gingerbread Souffle

just to name but a few.

You can click here for links to a few of these recipes…then run out and pick up the book for them all.

As Elizabeth Hurley said best on the book’s creamy cover:

“Eric Lanlard makes the yummiest cakes on the planet.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Even in full disco dancing garb, while handsome Cake Boy rocked his haute Hermes belt.

Sweet!
