The huppah, always one of my favorite focal points and beautiful traditions in a Jewish ceremony, is meant to represent the home and family the new couple will build together.
Without walls, of course it cannot protect the newlyweds from wind nor rain nor trouble.
But, family and friends stand closely at the corners, to strengthen, support and protect.
I love how this visually, physically and emotionally reminds us that our home is held together by the people who love us, and make up our family.
This "something borrowed" colorful canopy was handmade by Drew’s cousin Shirley, for her daughter’s wedding.
The artistry is something to behold – hand-painted and sewed using a traditional silk painting technique.
