Such a fun filled day here at Franklin Park Conservatory speaking at Women on Fire in Columbus.
I did so many events here back in the day – it’s a wonderful full circle to be back again so many years later.
This group of 150 women is jaw dropping – inspiring, motivated, leaders in their industries and homes and schools…
I am on fire!
I saw these painted tin plates this summer in Paris – at my favorite Musee des Arts decoratifs.
I bought as many as I could carry – and knew they would make the loveliest Thanksgiving placesettings.
Combine them with these naturally "painted" white and apricot Jack o Littles from Safeway/Dominick’s and voila – an effortless tablesetting for the holiday table.
Paired with these toile fabric squares my bloodhound of a mother found at a favorite tag sale on Nantucket – and we add in all the pretty, important layers of thoughtful details.
Sneak peek at tabletop two – don’t you just LOVE the black and white chevron Missoni plates?
These sadly, were in store only. Drag.
That I didn’t plan on when plotting and planning away.
So, thankfully my sister in law sent a Seattle shopping emergency SOS text, propelling me out of the studio and directly to the most un-Missoni like zipcodes I could muster up in Chicago.
You all know by now the demand for the online Missoni sale was so hot target.com crashed.
So I sprinted to the stores, and was out paced by a huge, brute football player of a guy who loaded up his cart with all but a few of these beautiful plates.
He must knock em down on the field, and throw a mean dinner party off the turf.
I have everyone I know keeping an eye out for more – let me know if you see any!
Did you miss Missoni Madness on Tuesday?
Well come over and see our marvelous Missoni inspired trend vignettes, and you’ll quickly understand what all the hub ub fuss was about.
I personally was counting down the calendar days and planning my purchase strategy for weeks.
Sheer exhaustion inspired me to choose online black of night 12:01 am as my buying attack, instead of in store at 7 am in Lincoln Park.
Following facebook and twitter around midnight, the e-feed frenzy really began. People were posting standing in line outside stores, people were refreshing target.com like mad to no avail, and EVERYONE had something to say about the madness.
About 1 am it became clear (from posts of friends of friends who worked at dear Target) the 12:01 am promised target.com grand opening was PACIFIC time.
So, alarm set, I grabbed a few hours of sleep. Dreaming about Missoni-esque store windows and placesettings on display for our fabulous fall trend vignettes.
Jolting up at the alarm and grabbing my laptop with glee – it was TRUE! The store was open as promised and I quickly set with a tabletop shopping strategy as fast as my fingers could carry me.
And now – today – we unveil our TWO Missoni madness inspired tabletops.
