Rotisserie Rounds

Rotisserie Rounds

Just across the quai, sitting in the shadows of Notre Dame, next to the Henri IV’s favorite 1582 gastronomic temple La Tour D’Argent (where, it must be shared, you order Canard a la presse – pressed duck – raised on their personal farm, which comes with it’s own serial numbered postcard) is one of our all time favorite bistrots: Rotisserie de Beaujolais.

I often need kid friendly Paris recs.

Tonight we have dear friends in from Boston, so our children count has multiplied.

Tonight we need a fabulous spot for jetlagged amies who want a special welcome to Paris dinner.

Beaujolais is a jolly fat cat, who runs the place along with his dear owner and excellent waitstaff. I knew the darling kitty would both entertain the kids, and keep the adults focused on wine and food.

Among the yellow and white french check cloths, is a big open rotisserie kitchen, in full view of the kids to pretend for tonight they are on set a la Top Chef.

As we were served ice cold bottles of water and vin rose (it must be 90 today in Paris, and I have marched us all over Latin Quarter and we are hot, sweaty and thirsty) we were served these delicious biscuit fromage – cheese crackers – topped with creme fraiche and herbs.
