Dejuner a Paul

Dejuner a Paul

Always a first stop, Jardin des Tuilleries for a picnic lunch at Paul.

A beautiful boulangerie dotting many parts of Paris, it is my daughter’s favorite baguette, pain chocolat, and more.

She compares every single sandwich mixte – ham and cheese on a soft chewy baguette – she ever orders anywhere to Paul, her apex for jambon perfection.

In addition to the darling vintage bakery cart Paul, Tuilleries is:

the sumptuous central axis of Paris…

once the royal garden to The Palace of Catherine de Medicis in 1561…

designed in 1666 by legendary jardinier Andre Le Notre for Louis XIV…

and 345 years later all that history preserved plus many family friendly respites…

an amazing new Swiss Family Robinson-esque playground no child (or adult) can resist…

for July and August an old fashioned fun filled fete or carnival (most recently the colorful centerpiece for the Paris finale for La Tour de France)…

petite wooden sailing boats to sail in the Grand Bassin…

romantic leafy al fresco cafes…

picturesque promenades a plenty…

alees and esplanades with towering walls of perfect plane trees…

and three world class art musees, just to name a few.

Who could possibly resist?
