Film Fest Fun

Yesterday was a BIG day.

We have been counting down for an entire month.

Every single morning, upon waking up and opening his eyes, my little guy told me EXACTLY how many more days until we went to see the sequel to his FAVORITE movie at it’s world premiere.

Finally, thirty days after tickets went on sale, it was here.

Opening Day Film at The Nantucket Film Festivala long anticipated highlight of our summer each June.

Look at the line outside The Sconset Casino.

How lovely that the Opening Film for a second year was a fun, family focused event.

The tiny island comes alive in June with the new summer season, the buzz of celebrating the arts, the oversize celeb and industry leer jets that dwarf the regular island turbo props at the quaint airport…

But truth be told, the “FF”, Film Festival, is all about the beauty, storytelling, and honesty behind films and production.

It is simply fabulous to behold, and to be a part of.

While the charming brick streets are filled with celebs, like Ben Stiller (sat with us last year for the opening film at The Casino, which was Toy Story 3), Jerry Seinfeld and Seth Meyer (arriving any day now for this weekend’s Comedy Round Table), and Meg Ryan (saw here everywhere I went on Main Street doing loads of shopping)…

The stars are not the actors.

The stars are the movies.

The screenwriters.

The directors.

The true art to movie making.

Well…the paparazzi sure made the kids feel like stars.

I loved the proud parents just beaming as they watched their kids interviewed on camera.

Plum TV made it so much fun.

It was like kids rule the world.

And the Film Fest.

Look how fun the favors were – handed out from baskets as you entered.

That’s John Shea talking to the kids in the front row.  Remember him from Lois and Clark, Sex and the City, or Gossip Girl?

Ben King, the screenwriter, gave a fabulous Q and A with the kids.

Parker had two fabulous questions, and wanted to shake his hand afterward.

Precious.

I was beaming.

Happy 16th Anniversary this week, Nantucket Film Festival.

We salute you.
