Spinnin' Vinyl

Besides the addictive divine donuts and cool coffees – guess what else makes Four Barrels worth the trip and pull up a table time?

The retro LPs played a la DJ behind the bar.

So hot – its cool.

Tartine Time

Tartine Time

Ahhhhhh…

Back in gorgeous, sunny northern California for a few more exciting days with Safeway.

Christine sent me straight away to Tartine, which I missed last culinary tour.
The website almost says it all – I was drooling as I viewed every single page, menu item, bread video and more.

I am starting with a gougere (ten times the size of any I have ever seen!) with gruyere, black pepper and fresh thyme.
Then I shall move to the croissant, which surely based on looks alone shall defy any blue ribbon boulongerie that has come before.

Next – as that’s breakfast above – I am hopping to the lunch menu. The kitchen opens in just a few minutes.

Their legendary hot pressed sandwhiches have oozed off the pages of their book "Tartine Bread" in full color. I cannot wait to have a few tastes up close and personal.

The Three Cheese Tasting is my first choice – with one third each of Bellwether Carmody, Straus Cheddar and Idiazabal.

For my second course (errr – fourth?) I shall have the Spicy Turkey with peppered turkey (au poivre!), provolone and broccoli rabe pesto.

No room for dessert – bein sur – so time to move on down the road in SF’s famous "gourmet ghetto".

Christine has 4 more spots not to be missed…

Chic Centerpieces

Chic Centerpieces

I just love the florals tonight.

The apricot, apple green and champagne is so soft and warm ontop the moss pleated linens.

The vintage silver urns and trays paired with silver moroccan and leafed votives is the finishing touch on each dining table.

The lighting under the tent is always of utmost importance – it creates an ethereal, amber glow invited guests to enter.

Tonight we have combined an amber and orange leaf patterned gobo ceiling design with a sparkling crystal chandelier, handpainted in silver leaf to match the centerpieces, with amber pinspot lighting highlighting each dining table floral.

Divine!

These handmade honey jars are too sweet for words…

The property, Hanover Hill, produces honey. What better wedding favor than a darling honey jar to enjoy at home?

Maybe its the city girl in me…

But these cocktail tables are the most inviting, enchanting, elegant setting to sit and soak up the view whilst sipping champagne.
