I had the high honor, many years ago, of helping one of my closest friends plan her wedding. It was so much fun, a total dream come true – on many levels, for many reasons. One of them, because at each and every decision point she said “whatever you want…you choose…I love what you love”. I was on cloud nine the entire duration of her engagement.
Now, I get to help her all over again. But this time it is even MORE fun, because we aren’t right out of college, and there are no mothers looming over shoulders, gently responding to our young, dreamy, girly ideas with a “hmm…are you sure?” at each dainty detail.
So when said friend called me yesterday to share the news, that the wedding date was set, I got busy whipping up her picture perfect reception decor. Don’t you just love the texture of this arrangement? The succulents, lady’s mantle, blueplurem, hydrangea, lavender, thistle, berry…individual perfumed hyacinth mercury glass cups at each setting…one word…YUM. The table not only looks divine, but the fragrance is intoxicating.
The botanical plates, found in New York are right off the shelves of my shop, A Perfect Event. They sit atop my latest obsession – the crystal charger plates from Tablescapes, perfectly paired with their pearl handled flatware and varied styles of silver rimmed glasses (no more matchy matchy, I love the wide and narrow rims paired together). Gorgeous! These details make the table look like an intimate dinner party, not a 100 person wedding with tabletop rentals.
The menu card, also from A Perfect Event, combine the brightly colored backer with an elegant, yet chic printed ecru card. The long, narrow design allows an easy tuck between the layered china, which allows plenty of space for the silver cups at the placesetting.
Last, the linen. Ahhh…the belgian sackcloth linen. I used it on Nantucket at the south of france birthday garden fete…and have the August window ready to assemble in a few short weeks. And I am using it again at The Drake next weekend for the unbelievable Bride-to-Tea Party…we are counting the days!
I want to thank, as always, Matt and Stevi from Avery House, for capturing the scene so sweetly.
But back to my wedding – errrr – I mean friend’s wedding. Watch for more reveals over the next few weeks – as it all comes together in perfect style, for a perfect couple.
