Nature Party

Look at these adorable themed invitations Jackie sent today for her eight year old birthday party.

A clear mailing tube is filled with a long, narrow rolled slip of paper typed with the party details…and a very nature journal/scientist typeface.

The slip of paper is rolled into the tube, add a long silk fern leaf and a large plastic insect (shown here praying mantis).

Label the tube with the guest name and address, your return address, and voila! A fun, kid friendly invitation they can help design, assemble, and enjoy.

I love it! Can’t wait for the party.

Glamour in the Sun

I took refuge one last morning at The Viceroy…

The gardens, the cabanas, the manicure lawns, the three sparkling pools…oh how they do beckon.

Just look at the captured charm in this photo – the pair of greyhounds flanking the stairs, the petite private villa with its high gloss orange door, oversize vintage door knocker, the teeny tiny black and white awning over the living room window, white lacquer rattan patio chairs, citrus yellow striped pool chairs…just to name a few favorite decor details.

I love stepping through the door and onto the tucked away terrace, as if stepping into an old Hollywood film and hobnobbing among Marilyn, Cary Grant and the Rat Pack themselves.

It is always styled and stunning upon arrival – party ready for any and every occasion. A wedding, a cocktail party, a birthday dinner…all picture perfect poolside.

Melamine plate fetish part deux…

Thomas Paul plates have been my top gift item for years. The designs are so gorgeous – so fun – so elegant. They are as stunning grouped as a wall decor collection as they are set on a table. J’adore!

Their 2010 lines will arrive shortly at A Perfect Event, and all of our party and window vignettes in the store will be themed around their color palettes.

Shown here, at our house in Palm Springs is "Artifacts". Drawing inspiration from ancient times, the series features designs based on pottery, ceramics, textiles and tiles from the past. From Chinese vases and Grecian busts, to Turkish tiles and European damasks, these ancient motifs and patterns are reworked to modern day melamine.

Perfect for your next Roman feast!

This is one of four design series en route to Chicago…I will send shots of the others as they arrive.

What is it about everything Jonathan Adler touches – looking good as gold?

These melamine plates in our desert house are so adorable, playful, and melamine to boot. The perfect plate for casual chic entertaining – especially poolside.

His decor at The Parker Palm Springs Hotel has been featured in every design and travel magazine, let alone every fashion shoot backdrop. In a word – divine!
