Easy, Effortless, Cubs Playoff Party Style (As Featured on ABC7 Morning News)

Chicago Cubs fans are the most loyal fans in the world. And right now, there is so MUCH to celebrate during the post-season playoffs. I can show you fresh, fabulous pennant race party entertaining tips and tricks for all your playoff parties.

Who doesn’t love baseball, and what team is more fun to celebrate than the Cubs?  This is such a dream come true—I live and work blocks from Wrigley Field, so the entire neighborhood is buzzing with Cubs fans, foods, desserts and decor.

So tonight, for game 2, I have 4 easy steps to make it a World Champion Party—at home with your family, your friends, or your neighbors.

Set the table in team colors.  Layering linens is a great way to add color and the classic uniform pinstripe detail to the table.

Bring a little Wrigley Ivy to the table. Pot Ivy plants and wrap the containers with Cubs colored wide silk ribbons. You can stack vases on top of each other to provide varied heights on the table.

Welcome guests and children alike with a Wrigely-tini! Garnish the glass with a foil-wrapped baseball candy—just slit the candy and position it on the glass’ edge.

For the kids, serve cherry juice in small glasses with red licorice straws. Kids can make-their-own at a self-service Juice Bar during the party. Provide juice, cups and plenty of red licorice (with hollow ends to make sure they work as straws).

Bring standard ballpark fare up a notch.  Instead of the traditional hotdogs and peanuts, we asked Winston’s Market on Southport, just
blocks from Wrigley, to make Cubs Chicken Wraps complete with red tortillas,
and red and white caprese kabobs. (That’s cherry tomatoes and mini fresh mozzarella balls!)

Another fun family favorite—kids love making these—are baseball pizzas.

Simply take pre-made pizza crusts, top with sauce, cheese and sliced red peppers in a lace design down the center of the pizza.  Bake according to directions.

What else but “Cubcakes,” of course!

Top cupcakes with dried coconut tinted with green food coloring, and candy baseballs to emulate the outfield. Another option is to top mini cakes—again perfect for the kids—with “Cubbie” Bears or cinnamon bears.

Delicious! Go Cubs!
